SEVENTEEN is celebrating their 10th anniversary with a bang — and a bold new full-length album dropping next month on the 26th.
At midnight on the 28th, the group released the trailer for their 5th album HAPPY BURSTDAY on their official YouTube and social media channels. Titled ‘DARE OR DEATH’ the trailer invites fans into a dramatic, interactive world that’s split into three parts: a main story and two endings, Side A ‘DARE’ and Side B ‘DEATH’ depending on the choices made.
The main video captures SEVENTEEN confronting their inner ‘Daredevil,’ standing at a crossroad between chasing challenges or settling into complacency. The scenes are intense: members fall through flames, wrestle with unknown impulses, and spiral between fear and madness. In a stunning twist, the line between themselves and ‘Daredevil’ blurs, hinting they are, in fact, one and the same. It all culminates with Wonwoo taking a deep breath atop a building, facing a choice: Challenge or Settle.
Side A ‘DARE’ shows SEVENTEEN pushing through fear, embracing challenges head-on, and fully merging with their inner Daredevil. Explosive visuals of the members’ bodies twisting and transforming fill the screen, embodying a powerful rebirth through fire.
In contrast, Side B ‘DEATH’ depicts what happens when fear wins. Choosing comfort over courage, the members vanish into smoke, leaving only a haunting ‘MISSING’ flyer fluttering in the air, a chilling reminder of what’s lost when we refuse to move forward.
Each ending closes with powerful messages:
– ‘FACE THE CHALLENGE, BURN ANEW’ in the DARE version, and
– ‘WITHOUT CHALLENGE, THERE IS NO NEW BEGINNING’ in the DEATH version, making it clear that SEVENTEEN’s new era is all about rebirth through boldness.
The album title HAPPY BURSTDAY perfectly captures this spirit, fusing the ideas of ‘birthday’ with ‘burst’, a symbol of explosive new beginnings. With this cinematic trailer hinting at deep, layered storytelling, anticipation is sky-high for what the full album will bring.
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN recently wrapped their ‘SEVENTEEN 2025 JAPAN FAN MEETING ‘HOLIDAY’’ at Kyocera Dome Osaka, performing for 120,000 fans over four sold-out shows. The excitement continues as they head to Saitama Super Arena for two more shows on May 10–11.
